Politics or not, Abuja must move — Wike says projects won’t slow down as 2027 elections approach.
Abuja, April 16, 2026 — FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, says the administration is targeting 80 per cent implementation of the 2026 budget before January 2027, despite looming general elections.
Speaking after inspecting projects in Abuja, Wike insisted political activities won’t derail development.
“Elections will come, but work will continue. We must deliver,” he said, assuring residents that key projects will be completed on schedule.
He disclosed that major roads, including the Airport Road–Kuje Expressway and Kuje–Gwagwalada Road, are nearing completion and expected by May.
Wike added that while the FCT is still operating the 2025 budget, approval for the 2026 budget is expected once the National Assembly resumes.
He also dismissed claims by the ADC of interference in its convention, saying, “Nobody is after them — they should stop looking for sympathy.”
