AFCFTA: CBW AFRICA PUSHES FOR BIGGER WOMEN TAKEOVER IN AFRICAN TRADE

Listen

Africa’s biggest trade game is already on — and CBW Africa says women must stop watching from the sidelines and start playing to win.

Lagos — The Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW Africa) is calling on more women across the continent to fully tap into opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

CBW Africa President, Ngozi Oyewole, says women must move from participation to leadership in shaping Africa’s single market vision.

She described AfCFTA as a “continental awakening,” noting that Africa has already moved from planning to real-time implementation of a unified trade market.

According to her, CBW Africa is backing this push with a digital platform linking women entrepreneurs across African borders, helping them trade, scale, and connect.

“We are not just speaking about integration; we are living it,” she said, urging women to move from local hustles to continental value chains.

Oyewole added that the focus is now on building structured, investable women-led businesses and stronger cross-border partnerships.

She stressed that success under AfCFTA will depend on action, not just awareness — and women must show up with clear plans, not just ideas.

AfCFTA is open — and women are being told to step in, scale up, and dominate.
