FARMERS TURN NEW LEAF IN EDO AFAN POWER SHAKE-UP

Listen

After years of faction drama, Edo farmers just hit reset and they’re not here for “chop alone” politics anymore.

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Edo State has pressed the restart button, electing a fresh set of leaders with one loud message: unity or nothing.

At the Benin poll, Joel Usiagu emerged as chairman, stepping into a role that comes with one major assignment — fix the cracks and bring every farmer back under one roof.

Before ballots were cast, Asuquo Asuquo didn’t mince words, warning members to ditch rivalry and ego. His message? Leadership isn’t a buffet — it’s sacrifice.
The new execs were sworn in by Kabiru Danbaba, sealing what many hope is the end of internal wrangling.

Freshly inaugurated, Usiagu got straight to business: unite all factions, clean up resource sharing, and make sure government support actually reaches real farmers — not just the usual “swallow and chop” circle.

He also tackled the elephant in the farm — insecurity. From crop theft to rural attacks, Usiagu says collaboration, petitions, and cluster farming could help farmers protect both land and livelihood.
On politics creeping into farm support? He admitted it happens but promised fairness moving forward.

Edo AFAN’s new leadership is betting on unity, transparency, and grassroots impact to turn things around.
