Big push for women and youth as government targets inclusion, digital skills and wealth creation
The Federal Government has kicked off a free nationwide training for 10 million Nigerians to boost financial inclusion and literacy, with a strong focus on women and young people.
The programme, driven by the Office of the Vice President through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), is designed to equip participants with financial skills, investment know-how and digital competencies for sustainable income and wealth creation.
Vice President Kashim Shettima flagged off the initiative after signing an MoU with six top professional bodies, including ICAN, CIBN, CIS, NICA, CRMI and NIIE, to jointly run training, certification, digital skills and mentorship programmes.
Shettima said financial inclusion goes beyond access to money, stressing that skills, trust and capability are key if Nigeria is to realise its demographic dividend and build a $1 trillion economy.
The programme, supported by technical partners WAWU Africa, is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s financial workforce and help young people and women thrive in a fast-evolving digital economy.
