More time for businesses as Lagos tax office grants one-week extension
The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has given employers a short breather, extending the deadline for filing annual tax returns from February 1 to February 7.
LIRS Chairman, Dr Ayodele Subair, said the move is to help employers submit accurate and complete returns, noting that the statutory deadline is usually January 31 each year.
He reminded employers that tax compliance should be a routine business practice and stressed that all filings must be done electronically via the LIRS eTax platform, as manual submissions are no longer accepted.
The platform, he added, is secure, easy to use and available round the clock. Employers were also urged to ensure that all employees’ Tax Identification Numbers (TaxID) are correctly captured.
For support, Subair advised employers to visit any LIRS office or reach out through official LIRS channels.
