HOUSE REJECTS US SENATE MOVE TO LABEL NIGERIA “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN”

Nigeria pushes back strongly against US Senate’s attempt to label it as a violator of religious freedom, rejecting what it calls misleading narratives. The House of Representatives unanimously dismissed the US Senate’s move to designate Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged religious rights violations. Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu led the motion, highlighting Nigeria’s constitutional protections for religious freedom and rejecting claims that security issues stem from religious conflict. Lawmakers urged correcting false impressions and protecting Nigeria’s global image. The motion was sent to relevant committees for further review.
