Global crisis, local pain and now the government says it’s stepping in to soften the blow.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered urgent measures to cushion the impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis on Nigerians — especially as rising fuel prices continue to bite.
Speaking in Yenagoa, Tinubu directed key officials, including the Finance Ministry and Head of Service Didi Esther Walson-Jack, to come up with practical ways to ease economic pressure on citizens.
He acknowledged the reality many Nigerians are facing: global tensions are driving up costs at home. But he assured that his administration is “looking at the numbers” to reduce the burden.
The President also used the occasion to highlight development strides, commissioning major projects by Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri — including a power plant, a major bridge, and new roads aimed at boosting connectivity and economic growth.
Tinubu stressed that collaboration between federal and state governments is key to delivering real impact, while reaffirming his commitment to improving lives through his Renewed Hope Agenda.
While the global crisis isn’t in Nigeria’s control, the government says relief measures are on the way.
