GUNMEN KILL IMO MONARCH, SET VICTIMS ABLAZE IN SHOCKING ATTACK

Another brutal night in Imo — a royal figure and others killed, leaving a community shaken and demanding answers.

Fear and tension have taken over parts of Imo State after gunmen killed a traditional ruler, Paulinus Ekwueme, along with five others in a gruesome roadside attack.

The incident happened in Ohaji/Egbema area, where the attackers reportedly opened fire on the monarch and his entourage before setting their bodies ablaze — leaving victims burnt beyond recognition.

Confirming the attack, Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said security operatives have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has since deployed tactical teams to track down those responsible, with officers already combing the area and working with other security agencies.

The victims’ remains have been moved to the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri for autopsy, while investigations continue.

Police authorities say they are stepping up security presence to reassure residents, but the attack has once again raised serious concerns about safety in the state.

Bottom line: a deadly attack, a grieving community — and a renewed call for urgent action on security.
