FRSC BLOCKS 858 TRUCKS, RECORDS ZERO CRASHES ON ABUJA CORRIDOR

Sometimes less traffic means more safety — and in Abuja, that formula is now delivering zero crashes.

The Federal Road Safety Corps says its tough enforcement at the Kugbo outbound corridor in Abuja is paying off, with a rare win: zero crashes involving articulated vehicles.

Since launching “Operation Safe Kugbo” on March 18, the agency has restricted 858 trucks from operating during peak hours — a move aimed at reducing congestion and deadly road incidents.

According to FRSC spokesperson Osondu Ohaeri, the results so far are a major breakthrough, thanks to strict enforcement, coordinated patrols, and real-time traffic control.

The operation is backed by national traffic regulations and forms part of the Corps’ 2026 strategy to cut road crashes across the country.

Officials say compliance efforts, led on the ground by RS7.13 Nyanya unit commander WF Luka, have been key to keeping heavy-duty vehicles off the road during rush hours.

FRSC is now urging truck drivers and fleet operators to stick to the rules, warning that enforcement will continue as long as necessary.

Fewer trucks at the right time — and Abuja’s roads just got a lot safer.
