NSCDC ARRESTS 20 FOREIGN NATIONALS IN KANO FOR ILLEGAL ENTRY

Kano authorities crack down on undocumented foreigners after intelligence-led operation exposes potential security risks.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command has arrested 20 foreign nationals in the Danbare area of Kumbotso LGA for illegal entry.

State Commandant Mohammed Hassan-Agalama said the suspects hail from Sudan, Chad, Cameroon, and Niger. They were detained after a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence. Many could not provide valid travel or identification documents, prompting investigations into their activities within the state.

Recovered items included 10 Android phones. The Corps is profiling the suspects and working with relevant agencies to determine possible links to unlawful activities.

One suspect, Idrisa Ila from Niger, claimed he had been trading in Kano for three years and met others online. He said some of the group planned to transit through Nigeria to Sudan but stayed after citing financial issues. Suspicious behaviour and communication barriers alerted local residents, who reported the matter to authorities.

Hassan-Agalama urged the public to stay vigilant and assist security agencies with timely information to protect national security.
