NIGER DEPUTY GOV CONDEMNS BANDIT ATTACK ON TWO COMMUNITIES

Authorities promise justice and stronger security after a deadly bandit raid in Niger State leaves lives lost and communities shaken.

Niger Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba has condemned the bandit attack on Erena and Bagna communities in Niger State, describing the assault as barbaric and unacceptable.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Ummikhaltume Abdullahi-Kuta, Garba expressed sympathy to victims’ families and assured residents of the Umaru Bago administration’s support. He said security agencies have been directed to intensify efforts to track down the attackers and restore peace.

The deputy governor urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives by sharing credible information.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the attack occurred early April 7 when bandits invaded Bagna and moved to Erena. Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun said a joint security team repelled the attackers, but two vigilante members and a driver attached to the team were killed, while others sustained injuries.

Security operatives have since maintained surveillance, with authorities saying the situation is now relatively calm.
