After bandits ambushed soldiers, Kwara’s governor warns residents to stop sharing military movements and steps in with financial support for affected troops and families.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has warned residents of Kwara State that leaking sensitive military information is helping bandits carry out deadly attacks on security personnel.
Speaking during a visit to soldiers injured in a recent ambush, the governor described the act as sabotage and stressed that troops risk their lives daily to keep communities safe. He was received by Brig.-Gen. Nicholas Nemetne Rume of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi and the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf.
The ambush claimed the lives of three soldiers, while three others are still receiving treatment.
To support the victims, AbdulRazaq announced N60 million for the families of the fallen soldiers pending benefits from the Ministry of Defence, and N5 million each for the injured soldiers to aid their treatment and family needs.
He urged Nigerians to stand firmly behind security agencies and avoid actions that could endanger troops.
