A police raid in Ikono uncovers a criminal hideout disguised as a worship centre, leading to arrests and seizure of weapons.
The Akwa Ibom Police Command has detained seven suspects and recovered firearms after raiding a hideout in Ndiya Mfia, Ikono LGA.
DSP Timfon John said the operation, triggered by credible public intelligence, recovered two locally made double-barrel guns, five expended cartridges, four motorcycles, three generators, machetes, mobile phones, police insignia, and other items used in criminal activities.
Preliminary investigations suggest the compound was a cover for ongoing criminal operations. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, has ordered a full investigation to apprehend the principal suspects.
The command urged residents to continue providing timely information to support law enforcement efforts.
