Nigeria and Chad are stepping up collaboration on security, trade, and regional development with a high-level meeting in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday welcomed Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for a closed-door discussion on shared interests. The leaders focused on strengthening bilateral relations, addressing regional security, and boosting economic cooperation.
The visit highlights both countries’ commitment to tackling insurgency and cross-border threats in the Lake Chad Basin, as well as promoting broader multilateral collaboration in the region. Déby’s stop in Abuja comes just before Tinubu’s trip to Jos to console victims of recent attacks in Plateau State, reflecting Nigeria’s ongoing focus on security and regional stability.
