KWASU PROMOTES 45 ACADEMICS TO PROFESSORIAL RANKS

Big academic boost for Kwara State University as 45 lecturers climb the professorial ladder, strengthening teaching and research across the institution.

The university’s Governing Council approved the promotion of 45 academic staff at its 78th regular meeting — elevating 20 scholars to full professors and 25 to associate professors across multiple faculties.

The promotions span key disciplines, highlighting the school’s growing academic profile and commitment to excellence in teaching, research and community service.

Some standout highlights:

  • Faculty of Allied Health Sciences celebrated Prof. Henry Olawale Sawyerr for his work in Environmental Health Toxicology and Risk Management.
  • Agriculture produced three new professors in agricultural extension, development policy and agronomy.
  • Arts added four professors in Arabic linguistics, African literature and Yoruba cultural studies.
  • Engineering and Technology produced six professors in areas from renewable energy to structural engineering.
  • Management, Social Sciences and Pure & Applied Sciences also recorded major promotions across fields like environmental economics, microbiology, chemistry and geochemistry.

The university says the move reflects sustained investment in human capital and will further strengthen its reputation as a leading state-owned university in Nigeria.
