With the 2027 polls approaching, the FCT Police are sending a clear message — no political ambition is worth bloodshed or chaos.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, has warned residents—especially youths—to stay away from electoral violence and resist political inducement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a community engagement in Lugbe as part of National Police Day activities, he stressed that citizens must exercise their political rights peacefully and responsibly. According to him, ballot box snatching, attacks on rival supporters, destruction of electoral materials and blocking election officials are serious offences that won’t be tolerated.
Sanusi also cautioned politicians against recruiting or funding violence, reminding everyone that no political ambition is worth risking lives or destroying property.
The command says it will work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission, community leaders and stakeholders to ensure peaceful, credible elections in the FCT, while continuing grassroots engagement to build trust and prevent unrest.
