EIGHT NNPP LAWMAKERS DEFECT TO APC IN KANO

Kano politics shakes up as lawmakers cite internal party crisis and join APC at the National Assembly.

Eight NNPP lawmakers from Kano State have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National Assembly in Abuja. According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the defectors—Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu Hussain, Idris Dankawu, Muhammad Chiroma Nalaraba, Rabiu Yusuf, Dr Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, and Muhammad Bello Shehu—cited internal party turmoil as their reason for leaving.

The event was attended by former APC National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Umar-Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Sen. Barau Jibrin. Governor Abba Yusuf described the move as part of the democratic process and stressed that political realignments are natural in a vibrant democracy. He reiterated his commitment to delivering development to Kano residents, urging unity and cooperation among lawmakers for the state’s progress.
