COAS VISITS PLATEAU, VOWS LASTING PEACE AMID SECURITY CHALLENGES

Plateau gets top military attention as Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu leads security assessment to restore calm and strengthen community safety.

The Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, visited Plateau State on Thursday with heads of security agencies to assess the ongoing security situation and boost operations under Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE.

COAS Shaibu received briefings from Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola on intelligence-led strategies and proactive joint operations aimed at protecting lives and stabilizing affected communities. He commended troops for their professionalism and called for sustained coordination among security agencies.

Engaging community leaders and residents, Shaibu urged calm, vigilance, and cooperation, stressing compliance with curfews and reporting credible information to support security efforts. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to working closely with the Plateau Government and other stakeholders to ensure lasting peace.

Local officials, including Jos North LGA Chairman Dachung Bagos and Naraguta ‘B’ Ward Councillor Ladi Dangyok, welcomed the visit, saying it boosts public confidence and encourages community collaboration with security agencies.
