Hook: A police crackdown in Kano has smashed a tricycle theft syndicate, leading to arrests and recovery of eight stolen vehicles.
The Kano State Police Command says officers intercepted a suspect, Abubakar Sidi, riding a stolen tricycle along Airport Road on March 26. According to spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa, the suspect couldn’t prove ownership and was moved to CID for investigation.
Police later uncovered a wider theft ring. Sidi allegedly stole the tricycle around Emir Palace Road and sold others in Jigawa State. Two accomplices were arrested and seven more stolen tricycles were recovered.
Residents and tricycle operators have been urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity, while the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the team and vowed continued action against crime.
