A 31-year-old man is in custody after admitting to posing as a Nigerian Army officer despite being dismissed in 2020.
Solomon Ugor pleaded guilty at the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court to parading himself as a soldier. Magistrate A.J. Aina ordered his remand at the Nigerian Custodial Centre, Badagry, until April 13 for sentencing.
Police prosecutor Insp Friday Maneh said Ugor committed the offence on March 13 along Badagry-Agbara Expressway while wearing a Nigerian Army face cap, fully aware he had been dismissed from service. The act violates Section 79 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
