With Easter traffic set to surge, road safety officials are urging drivers to slow down and stay alive.
The Federal Road Safety Corps has cautioned motorists in Gombe State against rush driving during the Easter celebrations, stressing that speeding and aggressive manoeuvres greatly increase crash risks.
Gombe Sector Commander Samson Kaura said safety must come before speed, reminding drivers that arriving alive is more important than arriving early. According to him, the command has already rolled out a special Easter patrol to keep roads safe and traffic flowing smoothly.
To boost enforcement and emergency response, the corps has deployed 620 personnel, including regular officers and special marshals. The operation is backed by 10 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a tow truck, all set to run through the end of the month.
Kaura also warned roadside traders to stay clear of highways, especially in busy areas, to avoid preventable accidents during the festive rush.
The message is simple: drive calmly, obey traffic rules, and make safety your top priority this Easter.
