António Guterres calls on African, Caribbean and Pacific nations to unite for climate action, development and fair global finance.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged African, Caribbean and Pacific states to restore trust in multilateralism and strengthen collaboration to tackle global challenges.
Speaking at the OACPS summit in Equatorial Guinea, Guterres said the bloc—representing 1.5 billion people—can be a powerful engine for progress if given fair access to funding, investment and global support.
He called for stronger climate action, debt relief, cheaper financing and reforms to global financial systems, stressing that vulnerable countries are paying the highest price for a climate crisis they did not create.
The UN chief also encouraged increased investment in sustainable development, climate resilience and South-South cooperation to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.
