With the rainy season approaching, farmers are getting direct links to quality inputs, funding and trusted suppliers.
The Sasakawa Africa Association and partners have brought farmers, agro-dealers and financial institutions together in Minna to improve access to genuine farm inputs before the 2026 planting season.
The engagement, under an AGRA-funded maize and soybean project in Niger and Kaduna states, aims to connect farmers directly with suppliers and lenders — cutting delays, improving pricing transparency and boosting productivity.
The project targets 100,000 farmers, with strong inclusion goals: 50% women, 40% youth and 5% persons with disabilities.
Stakeholders say the meeting helped build trust and led to intent agreements between farmer groups, input suppliers and financial institutions, setting the stage for smoother access to seeds, fertilisers and services.
Authorities also warned about fake agrochemicals, revealing that counterfeit products worth about ₦100 million have been seized and destroyed in Niger State.
Farmers say the initiative is timely, helping them identify genuine inputs and treat farming as a serious business.
