A routine registration check led to a shocking discovery — a car stolen in 2015 has finally been found.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a suspected stolen Toyota Camry in Ebonyi, 11 years after it was reported missing.
The breakthrough happened during a routine verification at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) desk when officials noticed inconsistencies in the car’s registration documents. Further checks confirmed the vehicle had been stolen in Benue back in August 2015.
The FRSC alerted the police, and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Abakaliki successfully recovered the car. Investigators found the vehicle had been re-registered with a new plate number to hide its identity.
FRSC says the recovery highlights the power of the NVIS in tracking and reclaiming stolen vehicles, while urging motorists to always verify documentation before buying or registering cars.
