AKWA IBOM HEALTH AGENCY BAGS HUMANITARIAN AWARD

Health insurance drive earning praise as hundreds of thousands gain access to affordable care.

The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency has been hailed for its impact after its Executive Secretary, Arthur Igbemi, was inducted into the African Leadership for Development and Humanitarian Service Hall of Fame.

The honour, presented by the Humanitarian Institute of Peace and Community Development in Abuja, recognises the agency’s role in expanding access to affordable healthcare across the state.

Igbemi dedicated the award to Governor Umo Eno, highlighting the ARISECare programme, which has already reached hundreds of thousands of residents across all 31 LGAs since its 2024 launch.

Officials say the scheme ensures vulnerable and low-income residents are no longer shut out of quality healthcare, with broader projects like Medical City and GIFA also boosting welfare in the state.
