Instead of a typical birthday celebration, Nigeria’s Humanitarian Affairs Minister is turning President Bola Tinubu’s 74th birthday into a day of solidarity with displaced families.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, says this year’s celebration for President Bola Tinubu will be marked with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Abuja on March 29.
According to him, the visit is meant to reflect compassion and inclusion, while drawing attention to Nigerians affected by displacement and conflict.
Doro explained that the gesture aligns with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that supporting vulnerable citizens remains a key priority of the administration.
During the visit to an IDP camp, the minister said officials will share a moment of celebration with displaced families, engage them directly, and reaffirm commitment to improving their living conditions.
He added that humanitarian efforts will continue to focus on restoring livelihoods, strengthening support systems, and promoting long-term stability in affected communities.
Doro also urged Nigerians to mark the President’s birthday by showing kindness to the less privileged, describing it as a better way to honour national unity and shared humanity.
Bottom line: This year’s birthday celebration goes beyond cake and speeches—it’s about compassion on the ground.
