EDO UNIVERSITY TO PROVIDE FREE HEALTHCARE FOR 800 RESIDENTS IN COMMUNITY OUTREACH

A university in Edo State is taking healthcare directly to the people, launching a free medical outreach that will benefit hundreds across rural communities.

Edo State University has begun a three-day free healthcare programme expected to reach about 800 residents across five communities in Edo State.

The initiative, themed “Bringing Quality Healthcare to Your Doorstep,” is part of the university’s corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving community well-being.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Victor Adetimirin said the outreach will cover Iyamoh, Ogbido, Iyora, Elele, and Uluoke communities, giving underserved residents access to essential medical services.

Medical teams will offer free screening, treatment, and consultations for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, malaria, hepatitis, arthritis, and respiratory infections.

Health experts involved in the exercise said the goal is to make basic healthcare accessible to people who might otherwise struggle to afford it.

Residents have been advised to also maintain good hygiene and clean environments to help prevent disease outbreaks.

Beneficiaries praised the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially for rural communities with limited access to medical care.

Bottom line: Organisers say the mission is simple—bring healthcare closer to the people who need it most.
