A major breakthrough in the fight against insurgency—troops intercept suspects allegedly fueling Boko Haram’s operations.
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested 18 suspected logistics suppliers accused of delivering goods to Boko Haram in Borno State.
The suspects were intercepted en route to Gubio and Gudumbali, areas known as terrorist strongholds. According to the military, all 18 allegedly confessed to routinely supplying items to the insurgents.
Their reason? Lack of jobs. Authorities say the suspects blamed unemployment, highlighting how economic hardship continues to feed terrorist support networks.
The military says the arrests expose the critical role of civilian collaborators in sustaining insurgency, especially in remote communities. It’s now calling for a dual strategy—strong security operations alongside job creation and economic empowerment to tackle the root causes.
