With its crucial convention just days away, the PDP is urging unity and discipline—warning that the nation is watching.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members to put the party’s collective interest above personal ambition ahead of its National Convention scheduled for March 29–30 in Abuja.
Speaking at the NEC meeting, Caretaker Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed described the convention as a defining moment that will shape the party’s future direction.
He urged stakeholders to remain disciplined, transparent, and committed to internal democracy, stressing that unity is key as the party seeks to reposition itself.
Mohammed said the PDP has made progress in stabilising its structures after recent challenges, thanks to reconciliation efforts and adherence to due process. “There is no victor, no vanquished—only a shared goal to rebuild,” he added.
He also commended the role of Nyesom Wike in helping stabilise the party.
Board of Trustees Chairman Mao Ohuabunwa praised ongoing reforms like electronic membership registration, calling it vital for transparency and credibility.
Other party leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro and House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, echoed calls for unity, insisting the PDP remains strong and ready to compete.
As the convention approaches, party leaders say cohesion, fairness, and shared vision will be critical to shaping its next chapter.
