LAGOS EXPANDS RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT TO TACKLE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Instead of reacting to abuse, Lagos is stepping in earlier—helping couples fix issues before they turn violent.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency is rolling out expanded professional relationship support services aimed at stopping domestic violence before it starts.

The initiative offers confidential guidance for singles and couples—from dating and pre-marriage stages to early and troubled marriages—helping them build healthy communication and mutual respect.

According to the agency, many abuse cases stem from unresolved conflicts and harmful social norms, so the focus is now on prevention, not just response.

Services include Safe Dating education and Marriage Clinical Interventions, all handled by trained professionals with strict confidentiality to reduce stigma and encourage more people to seek help.

Residents can access support via WhatsApp, a toll-free helpline, or the agency’s website, making help more accessible than ever.

The goal? Stronger relationships, safer homes, and fewer cases of domestic violence.
