Cleaner air is now a top priority as Environmental Health Council of Nigeria unveils new guidelines to slash carbon emissions across key sectors.*
EHCON has introduced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality across Nigeria.
Registrar Yakubu Baba says the target is ambitious—cut emissions by up to 70% in sectors like transportation, construction, mining, and industry.
A key part of the plan is the deployment of Oxetyne fuel additive, designed to lower emissions, boost engine efficiency, and reduce fuel consumption by up to 30%.
“Clean air is not optional,” Baba stressed, noting that poor air quality is linked to rising cases of respiratory and heart diseases.
To enforce compliance, EHCON has mapped the FCT into 16 monitoring zones and deployed a 30-member team to inspect facilities, assess generator usage, and recommend cleaner alternatives where needed.
The goal? Healthier lives, stronger environmental standards, and a more sustainable economy.
