A German court has handed down long prison terms after uncovering a cross-border weapons network linked to Hamas operations in Europe.
A court in Berlin has sentenced four men to between four and a half and six years in prison for membership of Hamas and involvement in procuring weapons across Europe.
The court found that the men—aged 36 to 58—acted as “foreign operatives,” helping to establish hidden weapons caches in countries including Poland, Bulgaria, and Denmark.
Prosecutors said the group prepared for possible attacks targeting Israeli and Jewish sites in Europe, including the Israeli embassy in Berlin and the Ramstein US airbase in Germany.
The suspects were arrested in December 2023 and include nationals of Lebanon, Egypt, and the Netherlands.
Authorities say the case highlights the extent of coordinated militant activity extending beyond the Middle East into Europe.
