Court cases dragging for years? The Abuja Chambers of Commerce and Industry says there’s a faster, cheaper way out—settle disputes without stepping into a courtroom.*
Business owners are being advised to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a smarter way to handle conflicts and avoid long, costly legal battles.
According to the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre, traditional litigation can take three to five years, draining time, money, and productivity. ADR, on the other hand, can resolve issues in weeks—or even a few sittings.
Registrar General Hauwa Usman says ADR methods like mediation, arbitration, and conciliation not only cut costs but also help preserve business relationships.
The centre, set up in 2017, is designed to offer quick, neutral, and business-friendly solutions, especially for SMEs and investors who can’t afford prolonged disputes.
Beyond settling conflicts, ADR also supports risk management, dispute prevention, and a more investor-friendly business climate.
The message is clear: talk it out, settle faster, and get back to business.
