With insecurity evolving fast, the Army is doubling down on smarter planning and stronger collaboration across agencies.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Abubakar Wase, has called for deeper inter-agency cooperation to boost the effectiveness of military operations, especially in Nigeria’s troubled North-West.
Speaking at the opening of the 2026 1 Division Operations Planning Cadre in Kaduna, Wase said modern security challenges demand not just firepower, but sharp planning, adaptability, and coordinated action.
He noted that the region’s complex security landscape—driven by violent non-state actors and ungoverned spaces—requires a unified approach involving multiple agencies.
According to him, the training is designed to sharpen officers’ planning skills, covering tactical processes, operational strategy, and collaboration with agencies like the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“The essence of planning cannot be overemphasised—it turns command decisions into clear, actionable tasks,” he stressed.
Wase also praised the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shu’aibu, for driving professionalism and resilience within the force.
The weeklong programme will feature lectures and interactive sessions aimed at equipping officers with the tools needed for smarter, more coordinated operations.
