As Muslims mark Eid-el-Fitr, a journalists’ leader in Abuja is calling on leaders to turn Ramadan lessons into real action on governance and unity.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Ms Grace Ike, has urged political leaders across all levels to adopt more inclusive and accountable governance in the spirit of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr.
In her goodwill message in Abuja, Ike said the holy month reflects values such as sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and peaceful coexistence—qualities she said leaders must reflect in policy-making.
She encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly while promoting unity, tolerance, and mutual respect across religious and ethnic lines.
According to her, Eid-el-Fitr is not only a time of celebration but also an opportunity for reflection, sharing, and supporting the less privileged in society.
Ike also called on Nigerians to sustain the virtues learned during Ramadan, stressing that patience, generosity, and empathy remain key to national cohesion and development.
She prayed for renewed hope, peace, and prosperity for the country, urging continued commitment to unity and progress.
