The Federal Government says it is intensifying efforts to secure all parts of the country following recent security incidents, while urging Nigerians to stay calm and united.
The Mohammed Idris has assured citizens that the Federal Government is working “round the clock” to improve security across Nigeria, following recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Speaking to journalists after Friday Jumaat prayers at Yahaya Road Mosque in Kaduna, Idris said the government is deeply concerned about the incidents and is determined to prevent a recurrence.
He prayed for peace in troubled areas, especially Borno, stressing that such attacks should be the last of their kind as security agencies intensify their response.
According to him, Nigerians must also play their part by remaining prayerful, united, and supportive of government efforts to restore lasting peace.
Idris linked his message to President Bola Tinubu’s call for citizens to embrace the lessons of Ramadan—discipline, compassion, and continued good conduct beyond the fasting period.
He urged both Muslims and non-Muslims to work together for national unity, development, and stability, noting that Nigeria is gaining more respect on the global stage despite its challenges.
The minister also defended ongoing government reforms, saying they are difficult but ultimately aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
He added that national unity remains essential as the country navigates economic and security challenges.
Earlier, the Chairman of Yahaya Road Mosque, Garba Ibrahim, called on worshippers to embrace discipline, honesty, and obedience to God, reminding them of the inevitability of death and the need to live righteously.
