EID MESSAGE FROM THE FRONTLINES: ARMY CHIEF URGES UNITY, SACRIFICE AMID SECURITY FIGHT

As troops mark Sallah on the battlefield, the Army leadership calls for resilience, discipline and stronger unity against insecurity.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has charged Nigerian troops to stay united, disciplined and committed as the country continues to battle security challenges.

Speaking at an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon for frontline soldiers in Katsina, the Army Chief—represented by Maj.-Gen. Godwin Mutkut—said the values of Ramadan mirror the core principles of military service: sacrifice, integrity and resilience.

He highlighted the rare overlap of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season, describing it as a powerful symbol of unity and shared spiritual reflection within the Nigerian Army.

Shaibu praised troops deployed across various operations, noting their sacrifices—especially those celebrating away from their families—and paid tribute to fallen heroes whose courage continues to inspire.

He also reassured personnel of improved welfare, better living conditions and stronger support systems, while stressing the importance of collaboration with other security agencies in tackling insecurity.

Katsina State officials and military commanders at the event commended troops’ bravery and pledged continued support to sustain the fight against banditry and restore peace.
