Nigeria’s army chief has praised frontline soldiers for their resilience and sacrifice in the ongoing battle against insecurity in Plateau State.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has lauded troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace for their dedication and courage in ongoing security operations.
Shaibu gave the commendation during an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon with troops in Jos, where he described their service as a reflection of discipline, sacrifice, and commitment to national stability.
Represented by Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi, the army chief said many soldiers continue to serve in difficult conditions away from their families while maintaining professionalism and loyalty.
He also praised their resilience in the face of hardship, noting that their sacrifices remain central to efforts to restore peace in troubled areas.
The COAS assured troops that improving their welfare remains a top priority, stressing that military wellbeing goes beyond equipment to include support for personnel and their families.
Commander of JTF-OPEP, Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, thanked the army leadership for the gesture and reaffirmed troops’ determination to continue operations despite recent losses.
He also urged residents of Plateau and surrounding communities to support security agencies with useful information to help tackle insecurity in the region.
