As soldiers mark Eid, the Chief of Army Staff is calling for renewed commitment, unity, and resilience in defending the nation.
The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has extended Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Nigerian Army personnel and their families, urging them to remain disciplined, united, and committed to national service.
In his goodwill message, Shaibu congratulated Muslim troops for completing Ramadan, describing the period as one of sacrifice, devotion, and spiritual renewal.
He noted that this year’s observance was unique, as Ramadan coincided with the Christian Lenten season—highlighting shared values of sacrifice, humility, and compassion among personnel of different faiths.
“The convergence reflects the unity that binds the Nigerian Army,” he said, stressing that diversity strengthens cohesion when anchored on mutual respect.
The army chief paid tribute to fallen soldiers, honouring their sacrifices as a source of inspiration to those still serving.
He also commended troops deployed across various operations for their resilience and professionalism, acknowledging that many remained on duty in challenging conditions while others celebrated with loved ones.
Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to improving troop welfare, including better living conditions, professional development, and support for families.
“The strength of any army lies not just in equipment, but in the morale and wellbeing of its personnel,” he said.
He further appreciated collaboration with other security agencies, noting that joint efforts remain crucial for national stability.
The COAS also thanked Bola Tinubu for continued support to the Armed Forces, urging troops to uphold the values of discipline, unity, and compassion beyond the festive season.
