SULTAN DECLARES FRIDAY AS EID-EL-FITR, CALLS FOR PEACE AND UNITY

Muslims across Nigeria will celebrate Eid-el-Fitr this Friday, March 20, as announced by Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

In a broadcast on Wednesday, the Sultan confirmed that the Shawwal crescent was not sighted, making Friday the first day of Shawwal 1447 AH. He urged followers to carry forward the lessons of Ramadan, maintain prayers for peace and national progress, and continue supporting the less privileged.

Highlighting the importance of unity and religious tolerance, the Sultan also called on Nigerians to pray for leaders and the nation’s prosperity, reminding all that Eid is a time for reflection, generosity, and community.
