Barely 24 hours after being sworn in for a second term, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has moved swiftly to dissolve his existing team—directing all political appointees to hand over their duties with immediate effect.
The directive, conveyed through a circular from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), mandates that all affected officials transfer responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries in their Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Where no Permanent Secretary is available, the most senior civil servant is to take charge.
The order came with urgency, requiring that the entire handover process be completed before the close of work on the same day—effectively bringing the tenure of all current appointees to an abrupt end while the governor prepares to form a new cabinet.
The circular, signed by the Permanent Secretary in the SSG’s office, Dr. Nwabufor Nwankwo, underscores that the move is temporary pending the constitution of a fresh executive council.
In a related development, members of Soludo’s first-term cabinet have been summoned to a meeting with the governor scheduled for March 23 at 10 a.m. at the State Executive Council Chambers—fueling speculation about who might return, who gets dropped, and what the next administration lineup will look like.
The sweeping decision signals a strategic reset as Soludo begins his second term, with expectations of policy continuity, new priorities, or a reshaped governance team.
