Nigeria is set to revolutionize its dairy industry! The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UK-based Asset Green Ltd to build an integrated dairy production platform.
The project, announced by British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter, will feature 20,000 hectares of climate-smart forage, a 10,000-milking cow operation, and a processing facility producing milk, butter, cream, and up to 15,000 tonnes of infant formula annually.
Once operational, it is projected to generate $620 million annually and create 2,500 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs, while supporting 10,000 rural households through out-grower schemes. NSIA Managing Director Aminu Umar-Sadiq described it as a transformative $500 million investment that will reduce import dependence and modernize agriculture.
Rod Bassett added that the partnership will unlock Nigeria’s agricultural potential, strengthen food security, and promote environmental sustainability. The initiative also highlights the enduring economic ties between Nigeria and the UK.
