The Niger Delta just got a cleaner, greener boost! The Niger Delta Development Commission has trained 500 youths from the region in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) autogas conversion, equipping them with skills in clean energy technology and vehicle conversion.
Speaking at the Uyo graduation, NDDC Managing Director Samuel Ogbuku said the six-week program aims to make the Niger Delta a hub for CNG technicians, tackle unemployment, and promote local technology transfer. Participants learned vehicle conversion, maintenance, and safety standards in line with global best practices.
Gov. Umo Eno praised the initiative for aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s CNG vision, highlighting its potential to transform the region’s economy and reduce reliance on petrol and diesel. The program, part of the Presidential CNG Initiative, also supports sustainable transport, job creation, and environmental protection.
