After years of hardship, major Rivers road nears completion with promises of safer travel and economic growth
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the 33.5km Elele–Umudioga–Egbeda–Ubimini–Ikiri–Omoku road will be ready for inauguration in May.
Speaking during an inspection tour across Ikwerre, Emohua, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs, the governor revealed the project is already about 90% complete, with final touches expected by the end of April.
Fubara described the road as a game-changer, noting it will not only ease movement but also boost security along a corridor once plagued by kidnappings and crime.
He added that the road would unlock economic opportunities in Omoku, popularly known as the state’s “Gas City,” while expanding the overall road network.
The governor also commended the contractor for the quality and pace of work, expressing confidence that the project will be delivered on schedule.
