Massive security is in place in Edo as Muslims prepare for Eid-el-Fitr, with the Nigeria Police Force deploying 5,000 officers and bomb disposal teams across the state.
According to police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, personnel have been stationed at prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, and other crowded areas, while Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams are on standby to detect and neutralise threats.
Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika has also ordered intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations, especially at entry and exit points into the state.
Residents have been urged to go about their activities without fear but stay alert and report suspicious movements, as authorities assure tight security before, during, and after the celebrations.
