After deadly explosions rocked Maiduguri, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has sent a strong message—those responsible will be hunted down and dealt with.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has vowed that those behind the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri will be decisively confronted, as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to tackle terrorism.
Shettima made this known during a visit to victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, following Monday’s deadly explosions.
The attacks reportedly left over 100 people affected, with more than 20 fatalities, sparking renewed concerns over security in Borno State.
Describing the perpetrators as “barbaric,” Shettima said no justification exists for targeting innocent civilians, reaffirming government’s commitment to ending terrorism.
He noted that beyond directives issued to security chiefs, the Federal Government has continued to invest in equipment, logistics, and operational capacity to strengthen the fight against insurgency nationwide.
The vice-president said his visit was to sympathise with victims and their families, while assuring them of government support.
He added that agencies like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the North East Development Commission, and the Borno State Government would provide necessary assistance to those affected.
Shettima was accompanied by Deputy Governor Usman Kadafur and other top officials, including the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to bring the attackers to justice and restore calm in the region.
