Seventeen top civil servants have been handed a clear message: perform with integrity or risk falling short of public trust.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has sworn in 17 new Permanent Secretaries with a strong charge to uphold professionalism, integrity, and efficiency in driving government operations.
Speaking at the inauguration in Bauchi, the governor described the appointments as strategic, filling key vacancies created by retirement and strengthening the state’s civil service leadership.
He stressed that the effectiveness of government depends heavily on the top management cadre, noting that Permanent Secretaries play a crucial role as the bridge between policy formulation and implementation.
Mohammed also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a merit-based civil service system, saying the appointees emerged through rigorous screening, examinations, and interviews.
He warned the new officials against corruption, abuse of office, and insubordination, adding that the government would not tolerate any actions that could damage public trust.
The governor further urged them to maintain discipline, ensure proper documentation, and work in harmony with commissioners and other officials for smooth governance.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Sabiu Ningi expressed gratitude and pledged their commitment to serve with diligence, loyalty, and accountability.
Bottom line: Bauchi’s new top bureaucrats have been told—lead well, serve right, and protect the integrity of government.
