In a move celebrating excellence and integrity, Idemili North Local Government has renamed Limca Road in Onitsha to Ichie Emeka Anyaoku Road, honoring the former Emeka Anyaoku for his distinguished service to Nigeria and the world.
Chairman Stanley Nkwoka explained that the renaming, which passed through council legislation, is meant to inspire future generations to emulate Anyaoku’s values, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Limca Road, a key artery linking Awka Old Road, Nkpor Junction, Onitsha-Awka-Enugu Expressway, and Obosi-Umuoji Road, now proudly bears the name of the celebrated diplomat.
Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka described Anyaoku, an indigene of Obosi, as a global figure of integrity whose work was recognized even by the Queen of England. Responding on behalf of Anyaoku, Chimezie Obi called the honour “the most cherished” of all recognitions, celebrating Anyaoku’s immeasurable contributions to his community, nation, and the international arena.
