OKPELLA MONARCH VOWS DEVELOPMENT DESPITE PETITION DRAMA

Traditional ruler dismisses fraud claims, insists focus remains on growth and infrastructure.

The Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, Mike Sado, has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Okpella Kingdom in Edo State, despite what he described as attempts by “retrogressive forces” to distract him.

Speaking in Benin City, Sado dismissed a petition allegedly sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, claiming it was the work of impersonators posing as the Ukhomunyio Council of Village Heads.

He said the council had already denied authoring the petition, stressing that the community’s priority should be development, not distractions.

Sado noted that despite significant revenue from multinational companies in the area, Okpella has remained underdeveloped—but his administration is working to change that through projects in security, education, and infrastructure.

Key initiatives include the construction of a police station, court building, judges’ quarters, and an ICT centre to end the hardship of students traveling to Igarra for WAEC and NECO exams.

Community leaders, including Joseph Omoake, also backed the monarch, denying any involvement in the petition and describing it as a clear case of impersonation.

Sado maintained that his focus remains on transparent governance and delivering tangible development to the people of Okpella.
