EKITI POLY RECTOR WARNS STUDENTS AGAINST CULTISM, DRUG ABUSE

New students urged to focus on academics and uphold discipline as they begin their tertiary journey.

Dr Sunday Ajeigbe, Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic (EKSPOLY), Isan-Ekiti, has warned students to steer clear of cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other social vices. He spoke at the institution’s sixth matriculation ceremony on Tuesday, attended by 274 new students.

Ajeigbe urged students to be disciplined, focused, and committed to their studies, stressing that matriculation is more than a ceremonial rite—it symbolizes their dedication to scholarship, innovation, and responsible conduct.

“Be focused on your studies, avoid distractions, and uphold the values of integrity, hard work, and respect for authority. Remember, the polytechnic has rules designed to ensure safety, order, and academic excellence,” he said.

The rector assured students of a conducive learning environment, modern teaching methods, and mentorship programs to support their academic growth. He also commended the state government, polytechnic governing council, staff, and development partners for their contributions toward the institution’s progress.

This guidance reflects EKSPOLY’s commitment to nurturing responsible graduates ready to contribute positively to society while maintaining a safe and disciplined campus environment.
